When I first began the MAET program two years ago, my focus at the start of this journey was on updating my educational technology knowledge base and applying it to my classroom practice with intention. I have come to realize that this will be a constantly evolving goal. Part of my goal has been achieved, in finishing the MAET program at MSU. I am now much more comfortable and confident exploring the new technology changes as they emerge and thinking outside of the box. I have changed in my perception of mastering technology, as this will never happen ...for anyone. It’s a wonderful adventure in creativity, much like my career as an educator.
Technology has become one of the the links beyond direct instruction from me to student learning goals, incorporating practice and skill mastery in needed curriculum or target skill areas. It has helped in engagement strategies, lesson extensions and virtual experiences within the classroom. It has also helped in bridging classroom/home communication and sharing of classroom experiences with families and students together. Technology additions have enriched my classroom instruction and role as an educational leader within my school community.

On a personal learning level, I have become more confident in using innovative technology in more creative outlets. I feel more confident about it, which in turn has made me comfortable helping others or troubleshooting issues without asking for help right away. I hope to develop myself as a leader in administrative education in the future, my coursework will only contribute to this. I feel that taking my education to the next level in graduate school was a necessity; the direction I chose to learn in was exactly what I needed to grow in another outlet of my career.
I am thankful that I chose educational technology to expand my knowledge base in technology platforms for education in creative, meaningful ways. My goal is that of lifelong learning, and I am confident that the evolution of technology will provide that. The classroom and today's student continues to evolve right along with the technology piece. All educators have a calling to engage students. Why not have more ways to reach them through technology?
